This post is in collaboration with Urban Barn

GUYS! I am so excited to share this post with you today! I don’t think I’ve ever worked harder on a post or put more thought into a project than I have for this one and it’s finally all come together!

Our living room is the first thing you see when you walk in our home and somehow, with having little kids and prioritizing other spaces, it became my least favourite room in the house and somewhere we didn’t spend a ton of time in. Our friends at Urban Barn helped us create a comfortable, functional, and beautiful space! This space is now where we spend all of our time and I love the impression it gives when you enter the house. It’s cozy, inviting and welcoming, and I am so in love!

Urban Barn also knew we were coming up to the Christmas season and helped us get the space holiday ready with their beautiful decor pieces! We do a lot of entertaining over the holidays and are so happy to have a cozy, festive space to host family and friends, have a christmas movie night, or have a cup of coffee by the christmas tree.

I’ve been so excited to reveal this room to you guys and hope you love it as much as we do! First some before photos. The room is really long and had a lot of empty wall space that we had no idea what to do with.

I’ll share the completed room and then at the end share it all decorated for Christmas!

Our first priority was a sofa. The one we had before this one was 10 years old. We got it recovered and loved it so much but it still wasn’t big enough to fit our family or have guests over. We instantly fell in love with the Nixon sofa when we saw it in store. All we had to do was sit on it and we knew it was the one for us. I love super deep sofas. The ones where you sink right in and when you sit back your feet don’t touch the ground. Well, this is that! It’s so comfy it feels like a bed, and the chaise is the perfect spot to curl up and watch a movie or read. Every night after the kids go to bed, my husband and I find our way to that little corner and snuggle and catch up. We went with the Giovanna Moonstone fabric because we loved that it was neutral but has such a beautiful texture!

We added the Crosby Side Table and matching Crosby Coffee Table to accent the couch and found the perfect black lamp in the Aura Floor Lamp to add a little contrast to our otherwise light space.

We love a little pop of green and since I can’t keep plants alive to save my life, this Kani Palm Tree and Kyrie Standing Planters are the perfect addition to the corner by the window.

The next piece that caught my eye were these Simcoe Armchairs. We love entertaining and hosting game nights and wanted some additional seating that was still stylish and cozy. We love the textured fabric of these chairs and they are so comfortable to sink into at the end of the day. We picked up the Westfall Pouf in natural to use as a footstool or additional seating for guests and love the boho print and texture.

To pull all the furniture pieces together, we chose to layer two area rugs for the space. We started with the Shiva Rug which is made of jute and leather remnants. We needed a large rug for the space and this one really brightened up the whole room. To make it extra cozy, we layered the Victor Rug on top. This rug is so squishy and soft. I actually don’t think I’ve felt a rug as comfy as this one and I wish I had it in every room!

Now for accessories! We had been planning this wall reno in this space for a long time with a cabinet and TV and shelves but I always felt stressed and indecisive about what I would actually put on all those shelves. Well we JUST finished the wall and shelving and thanks to Urban Barn, accessorizing them was no problem at all! They have the most beautiful and affordable vases, pillows, candles and baskets that make the wall look full but not cluttered was easy! I loved these speckled Gwyn Vases and this textured cream Rylee planter. I also grabbed these Vanna vases to pop in some greenery and give the shelves some life! We loved this Anthology Book Box for some colour and storage and these Tyree Candle Holders for a little light.

Okay! Time to get festive!

Decorating for Christmas is my favourite. Nothing makes me love my home more than seeing it all sparkly and alive with holiday decor. Urban Barn has the most beautiful selection of Christmas decor from trees and ornaments, to cozy throws and sherpa pillows. I couldn’t wait to get this room Christmas ready!

For a tree skirt we used the Rosalind throw in Ivory around the base of the tree. I love this cozy, casual look.

Next we needed a TREE! We love this 7tf Tannon Cashmere Tree. It’s the perfect green that looks a little bit flocked on the ends because of a lighter green colour. We decorated it using ornaments from Urban Barn and love their classic and whimsical pieces. We did an eclectic mix of ornaments with a natural wood and white theme.

On the shelves we added this beautiful eucalyptus garland which is so full and realistic looking. We also added some holiday touches to the shelves with these Yukon Trees. We thought these Lottie knit stockings were so beautiful and soft we hung them front and centre!

I changed out the throw pillows for the holiday season and love the Homestead Sherpa Throw Pillow paired with the Fawn Cashmere pillow and their Bailey throw pillow for a pop of red!

We are so in love with this space. I still pinch myself when I walk out in the morning to this room. Cup of coffee in hand, christmas lights all aglow, and curled up in my favourite corner is where you’ll find me all month.
